The first two weeks of the NFL season have been brutal to the ranks of Fantasy Football. Dez Bryant, Tony Romo, Drew Brees, Eddie Lacy, Eric Decker, the list goes on. So many of your Fantasy relevant players have gotten hurt. So what are you to do? Hit the wire. Fill those rosters with players that might help you win. Let's find some of those guys together.
It's all about the Benjamins
Travis Benjamin, WR, Cleveland has had a pretty good start to the season scoring 4 times in the first two weeks. Two long receiving touchdowns on Sunday and a punt return 74 yards for a score. Benjamin is a stash and wait kind of player for me. I find him much more desirable in leagues that give points for return yardage. His value may be tied to the ability of Johnny Manziel keeping the starting job. I am not ready to start him, but I could see him on my roster if I need a big upside player.
Starks me up
James Starks, RB, Green Bay has the chance this week to take over the running load in the Green Bay offense. With Eddie Lacy banged up with an ankle injury in week two, Starks came on strong to help the Packers take down the Seahawks. If Lacy remains out his week, Starks steps right into the job with a high ability to succeed.
Jonesin'
Matt Jones, RB, Washington has proven his ability in the Washington run game. Jones had 19 carries for 123 yards and two scores, plus three catches for 23 yards. Jones has wedged his way into the run game for Washington, and I am not expecting that to change anytime soon. Washington will be perfectly happy to have an effective tandem at running back and try to win with defense and clock control. Grab some Matt Jones.
What you Snead
Willie Snead, WR, New Orleans had a lot of buzz during the preseason. Snead hit last week for the Saints, Willie caught four passes for 44 yards and a score in week two. In week one Snead only had one catch for 63 yards, so he may be inconsistent. But the New Orleans offense must try something new. At 0-2 and now possibly without Drew Brees this week, something has to change in the Saints offense. Snead just might be the benefactor of this.
Mr. Rodgers neighborhood
Richard Rodgers, TE, Green Bay was my secret weapon in some of my leagues this season. Once Jordy Nelson went down with a torn ACL, the Packers were going to need some help in the red zone. The reason he was my secret weapon? Well I crunched the numbers from last year and found that Green Bay had the third best schedule for points allowed to tight ends. The only issue was they don't usually use a tight end. Well, Nelson out helped him with that. Last week Rodgers caught both a touchdown pass, and a two point conversion en route to a 3-23-1 night. Not a huge evening, but he was also targeted again for a deep pass and another time in the end zone. So now my secret is out, and you can benefit.
Neon Dion
Dion Lewis, RB, New England has been a monster the first two games of the season. Through the first two weeks of the season Lewis has 22 rushes for 109 yards and a score, and has 10 catches for 149 yards. The bad news is that he has a fumbling issue. The good news, he has still gotten in the game. As hard as it is to trust a Patriots running back, he hasn't come off the field after the fumbles, and Brady has talked him up. If he is still available in your leagues, add him to your roster.
Quarterbacks to stream Week 3
Ryan Fitzpatrick plays at home against the defensively hapless Eagles.
Marcus Mariota plays at home against the Colts. Indy is down corners on defense, and if they don't get them back it could be a great day for Mariota.
Nick Foles plays at home against the Steelers. Not sure who he is throwing to, but the Steelers won't stop it.
Defenses to stream Week 3
Cincinnati Bengals head into Baltimore. The Baltimore offense is no great shakes this year, and I wouldn't expect a ton from them.
Cleveland Browns host the Oakland Raiders. Cleveland has decent corner play and a front line that should start to gel soon. The Raiders just aren't good, yet. They seem to be heading in the right direction, but have a ways to go.

Week Two Start Sit
Well it has been a slow few weeks as real life has caught up
with me. Lots of busy things happening. Drafts were amazing. Had a great time,
and have some great teams. I hope the same has befallen you as well. So now we
have a full week in the bank. It’s time to look at the best plays and worst
plays we find this week. So let’s take a look at this week’s start/sit.
Start
John Brown, WR, Arizona is facing his second good match up
in a row. After performing fairly well in Week One, with four catches on seven
targets for 46 yards and a touchdown, Brown is once again a guy I am sliding
into my flex positions this week. Facing
the Chicago Bears in Week Two, Brown finds a favorable situation ahead. The Bears
gave up three touchdowns through the air last week. In the 2014 season the
Bears were 30th in passing yards allowed for the season. I expect
the issues with the Bears passing defense to continue this week. Get Brown in
your lineup.
Carson Palmer, QB, Arizona is leading the attack again this
week for the Cardinals. Palmer had a superb opening game to the season,
throwing for 307 yards and 3 scores. Palmer is a good enough quarterback to
take advantage of a defense that is weak in the passing game. Expect him to do
more of the same this week. If you are lucky and planned the start of your
season, you can stack Palmer and Brown this week and double your pleasure.
Palmer is a great start for you this week.
Bishop Sankey, RB, Tennessee is a surprise addition to this
list. I never thought I'd say that after the 2014 season, and the tumultuous offseason at the
running back position in Tennessee. Sankey had a fantastic performance in the
new and seemingly improved offense of the Titans. Rookie quarterback Marcus
Mariota was fantastic in his NFL debut last week, and Sankey was also
impressive. This week Sankey and the Titans will face off against the hapless
Cleveland Browns. Last season the Browns gave up the most yards per game on the
ground. The Browns picked up right where they left off allowing 154 yards in
their first game of the season. If you see Sankey hanging out on your waiver
wire and are in need of a running back this week, snatch him up and get him in
your lineup.
Steve Smith Sr, WR, Baltimore squares off against the not
improved defense of the Oakland raiders. The Ravens faced the Broncos in a
clash of good defensive units last week. This week, the Ravens offense will
have a much better time of it. The Raiders gave up 270 yards and 2 passing
touchdowns last week to the Cincinnati Bengals. This bodes well for the likes
of Smith Sr. Look for him to atone for dropping a touchdown last week. Get Smith
Sr. in your lineups.
Eric Decker, WR, New York Jets is a great second receiver
for an NFL team. The good news about that is he will likely not get the top
corner coverage a lot this year now that the Jets have a number one guy. This
week the Jets face the sub-par defense of the Indianapolis Colts. The colts
didn’t give up a huge amount of passing yards in the first week of the season,
but they did give up a long score to Percy Harvin. Expect that the top corner,
Vontae Davis, will be on Brandon Marshall. This leads me to believe that Decker
is primed to have himself a solid game. Start him if you got him.
Sit
LeGarrette Blount, RB, New England Patriots was suspended
for the first week of the season so we haven’t seen him on the field yet in
regular season action. His first game back is against the stout defense of the
Buffalo Bills. The narrative being bounced around twitter and the podcast circuit
is that the Patriots will attack the Bills defense with short passing. This seems
to make sense with some of the personnel the Pats feature. If this is in fact
what Bill Belichick does with his game plan, this doesn’t play well for Blount.
Blount is not the best pass catching back the pats have. Along with the
possible bad game plan for Blount, Buffalo is very good against the run. The
Bills allowed just over 100 yards on the ground per game last season, and in their
first game of this season they held the Colts to 64 rushing yards. I’m sitting
Blount this week.
Andre Johnson, WR, Indianapolis Colts looked like an old,
washed up man last week against the Bills. This week assuming he gets the top
corner his opponent has if TY Hilton is out, we will welcome Johnson to Revis
Island. I can’t imagine any situation where Revis has two functioning legs and
can’t shut down Johnson. The best hope for him is if Donte Moncrief torches the
Jets on a few plays and they shift the coverage to Moncrief instead. But this
assumes that Johnson is ready for the challenge and steps up to it. I am not
looking to take that chance myself and would sit Andre Johnson this week.
Latavius Murray, RB, Oakland Raiders had a decent game for
one where his team was never even close to competitive. The good news is he got
seven catches in the game last week. This week Murray and the Raiders face the
stiff Baltimore Ravens defense. Baltimore only gave up 69 yards rushing last
week against the Broncos. This might seem like it is due to the mess that has
been the Broncos offensive line, but they were stout last year as well. In the
2014 campaign the Ravens only allowed 88 yards rushing per game and eight touchdowns
on the season. This makes me want to put Murray on my bench this week.
TJ Yeldon, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars had 51 rushing yards in
his first NFL start. The positives about this are that he got four yards per
carry, and that he also caught three passes. This was a game against Carolina,
a usually strong defense, but they were missing Star Lotulelei in the middle of
that defensive line. This week doesn’t get any easier than last week, squaring
off against the Miami Dolphins and their scary defense. The Dolphins did give
up a lot of yards in game one of the season, but that was against an actually
decent run blocking line of Washington. The Jags line is not that good. I don’t
see good things for Yeldon this week and am sitting him in the leagues I own
him in.
Frank Gore, RB, Indianapolis Colts squares off against the
New York Jets this week. Another team with a strong defensive line, the Jets
only allowed 104 yards last week to the Browns, but 58 of those yards were
given up to the quarterbacks of the browns. That means that the running backs only
gained 46 yards. Gore looked old, and actually left the game with cramps. Gore
had 8 carries for 31 yards and 2 catches last week. I am not feeling too good
about his chances this week and would bench him for a better option.
It feels good to be back. The first week of the season was
amazing. Happy to bring you some advice and insights into who to start and sit
in your leagues. Check back for more articles in the near future and read some
of my other work at socalledfantasyexperts.com and fakepigskin.com. Thanks for
reading and good luck in week two!

Waiver Wire Playoff Edition Week 14
Welcome to the playoffs. If you are still reading this, I assume you made it. Congrats. If you didn't make it and are still reading, you are just as sick as me. Not a lot to love on the waiver wire this week, but a few gambles if you are in bad shape. Let's take a look.
RB
Daniel Herron (IND) is the best healthy running back in Indy. The Colts didn't run a lot last week, but the best back on the field was definitely Herron. Going 8 for 88 and a touchdown and adding 2 catches, Herron is a solid addition to those who have lost their running back in the past few weeks with some starters going down.
Marion Grice (ARI) is a throw of a dart at who will get the touches in Arizona if Andre Ellington is out this week with a hip pointer. Grice got the most work after Ellington went down, but at this point I don't really want anything to do with any part of the Cardinals offense. Grice is a super desperation addition this week as the role of all is not clear. The Cards had recently added Michael Bush to their roster as well, but he had been out of football before getting signed. Proceed with caution with any Arizona running back not named Andre.
WR
Robert Woods (BUF) has been a consistent performer for the Bills over the past few weeks. In week 13 Woods had 4 catches for 71 yards, and in week 12 Woods had 9 catches for 118 yards and a score. The Bills face the Denver Broncos this week, and if Aqib Talib is out again, it might be a good game for the Bills through the air. Denver has allowed 24 touchdowns through the air this season. If you are in need, Woods is a decent addition.
Davante Adams (GB) had himself a game against the Patriots in week 13. Catching 6 balls for 121 yards, Adams was a good performer for the Pack. This week the Packers face the Atlanta Falcons and their worst ranked pass defense on Monday night. There should be plenty of yardage to go around. Adams is a good addition if you need some help at receiver.
Donte Moncrief (IND) has been used sparingly this season, but at some point the Colts have to realize the explosiveness that Moncrief adds to their lineup. In his biggest games this season, Moncrief has had over 100 yards and has scored 3 touchdowns. His production has been off and on, but when he is given a shot he has shown big play ability. Facing Cleveland this week, if the Colts put him on the field, he could have a big day against the second or third corner for the Browns. Moncrief is a gamble, but can provide huge dividends if he hits for you.
QB
Johnny Manziel (CLE) got his first real NFL action last week, and early this week it seems like he might get his first start against the Colts this week. I wouldn't look forward to starting him in a 10 or 12 team league, but in a 2 quarterback or keeper format he should now be rostered. I don't like the idea of a rookie passer, but Johnny Football has the ability to run, including a rushing touchdown last week.
RB
Daniel Herron (IND) is the best healthy running back in Indy. The Colts didn't run a lot last week, but the best back on the field was definitely Herron. Waiver Wire Week 13
The last week before many of you will be entering the playoffs, if you have made it that far. Not a ton of activity for the waiver wire this week, but here is the list of players who may help you going forward.
Running Back
![]() |
Latavius Murray (OAK) had only 4 touches last week before being sidelined with a concussion, but he had monster numbers with them. Rushing for 112 yards and 2 touchdowns, it seems that once healthy, Murray will see more touches for the Raiders and could likely help a running back poor team out.
Daniel Herron (IND) has taken the place of Ahmad Bradshaw in the Colts backfield, and actually had more touches than Trent Richardson last week. The Colts have a good schedule moving forward, and Herron is likely to continue with at least his current workload. Definitely worth an add if you need running back health.
![]() |
LeGarrett Blount (NE) came right in and scored twice for the Patriots last
week. I am always skeptical of the running back situation in New England, but with Jonas Gray putting himself in the dog house by being late to practice, Blount might be the ground guy moving forward. I think Blount is a risky player, but if you are desperate, you could do worse.
Wide Receiver
Jarvis Landry (MIA) has 49 catches on the season for the Dolphins, and is averaging almost 50 yards per game over his last 4 games. In a PPR league, Landry is a solid play moving forward and has a decent schedule including games against the Jets in week 13, and Baltimore in week 14. Landry is a flex option for you the rest of the season.
Charles Johnson (MIN) has earned himself some consideration and more playing time in the
![]() |
Tight End
Kyle Rudolph (MIN) is back, and actually caught some passes last week. With the previously mentioned good match ups for the Vikings, it seems likely that Rudolph will be a productive player in the black hole that has been much of the tight end position this season. If you have either an under performing or injured tight end, Rudolph should be a suitable replacement for you.
![]() |
Tim Wright (NE) has had sporadic production this season, but in a world where the tight end position has been hit and miss altogether this season, you could do worse than Wright. The red zone offense of the Patriots has featured Wright for multiple short yardage scores this season, and with some tough match ups ahead, Wright might find himself scoring again at an end zone near you. If I were in a desperate situation, Wright would be on my list of high risk players that may also have a high reward.
My final suggestion this week will be on the defensive front. For those who have been streaming defenses this season, I highly recommend carrying 2 defenses at this point in the year. Take a look at the defenses that are available in your leagues and find one or two that have decent match ups the rest of the season. I would cut a 5th receiver or non stud running back that you are never playing and line up your defensive needs for the rest of the year.
If you have clinched your playoff spot already, congrats. If not, good luck this week locking up that post season berth.

Waiver Wire Week 12
At this point in the season, teams that are pushing toward the fantasy playoffs should be fairly well set. As is such, the waiver wire pickups that are made from now moving forward will most likely be defensive ones, or to get players to fill in for guys who get injured. This week there were some important players going down with injuries. Let's take a look at the guys you might need to pick up this week.
TE
Julius Thomas and Dwayne Allen both went out with ankle injuries in week 11, and the entirety of the tight end position has been pretty scarce outside a few outliers this season. Here are a few guys you can look to use to replace these guys if they miss any real time.
![]() |
Jacob Tamme (DEN) is a solid addition if you have a tight end need if Julius Thomas is out. Tamme knows the offense, and he is familiar with Peyton. I can't tell you that he is going to be Julius, but he has shown the ability to catch passes and score in the past.
Coby Fleener (IND) had a monster game against the Patriots on Sunday night in a losing effort. Assuming that Dwayne Allen misses any time, look for Fleener to be able to see good production on what should be a pass heavy offense and a good schedule for the rest of the season.
![]() |
Niles Paul (WAS) could also see an increase in targets and production with the possibility of Jordan
Reed out for any significant time. Reed can't seem to stay healthy, and in his absence earlier this season, Paul was a good fantasy option.
Kyle Rudolph (MIN) was a disappointment in his first game back since his early season injury, but should hopefully see some targets and production in the coming weeks. One issue with the Minnesota offense is that it is a mess. Teddy Bridgewater is having a hard time getting positive results, and that may hamper the ability of Rudolph to score for you.
Garrett Graham (HOU) is a guy to think about. With a change in quarterback to Ryan Mallett in week 11, Graham found his way to the end zone and his highest fantasy score this season. While he only had 2 catches, if he proves to be a trusted asset for Mallett, he could see an uptick in production.
RB
![]() |
CJ Anderson (DEN) is a player that gained huge relevance after Sundays games. With Ronnie Hillman now possibly out for up to 6 weeks, and Montee Ball re-injuring his groin in his first game back, it seems that Anderson might be the guy the rest of the season for the Broncos. CJ didn't do much on the ground in a game where the Broncos were trailing early, but he was big in the passing game with 8 catches for 86 yards. If the other players in your league didn't pick him up in week 11, punish them for this transgression in week 12.
Juwan Thompson (DEN) is now the likely handcuff for the Broncos assuming that they don't sign another back this week. Thompson has been getting some goal line work in recent weeks, and is a solid pass blocker. If you have CJ Anderson, Thompson is a must add this week.
Ryan Mathews (SD) was back this week, and had a healthy workload. Moving forward look for Mathews to be the feature back for the Chargers down the stretch. In the same situation last season, Mathews proved to be up to the challenge. If he is still floating on your wire, pick him up.
![]() |
Alfred Blue (HOU) had a huge game in week 11 with Arian Foster out. Carrying the ball 36 times
for 156 yards, Blue proved an adequate replacement in the Houston offense. If Foster misses more time, Blue is a viable option to help out a struggling running back situation for your fantasy team.
Trent Richardson (IND) might be a desperation add for a team who has lost a running back or just needs a guy that is likely to get work. Ahmad Bradshaw left the game on Sunday night for the Colts, and was in a boot and on crutches after the game. These are not good things for a guy with a history of foot issues. I can't tell you Richardson is too impressive as an NFL running back, but if the alternative is nothing, he's probably better than that.
WR
![]() |
Josh Gordon (CLE) is back in week 12. And Brian Hoyer was chucking the ball all over the field in week 11. Throwing the ball 50 times in week 11, look for Gordon to see plenty of targets for a Cleveland team that will welcome him back and look to push toward the playoffs.
Andrew Hawkins (CLE) is a PPR machine. And with Josh Gordon returning, Hawkins will likely have some more space to work in. Hawkins is only owned in 45% of ESPN leagues, and can give you a PPR boost to get you to the mountain top that is your playoffs.
Kenny Britt (STL) is a name you might want to look at. I am not a fan of him, but he is the guy for the Rams, and I use this same logic with why to love Kelvin Benjamin. I would only suggest to add Britt if you have no other options, as the Rams will be playing some tough defenses in the remainder of the season. Proceed with caution and at your own risk.
QB
![]() | |
Ryan Mallett (HOU) had a decent debut for the Texans. Mallett had 211 yards and 2 touchdown passes for the Texans, and an interception that was on a tipped ball in the end zone. A fantastic remaining schedule remains for Houston, with match ups against the Bengals, Titans, Jaguars, Colts, Ravens, and Jaguars again to end the season. Not a whole lot to be scared of there, except the fact that Mallett has 1 start.
Brian Hoyer (CLE) is a guy to look at if you are stuck at

All the players on this list are either plug in now or handcuff options that can give you the stability and depth to help you surge the last few weeks to make a run for your championship. Make good choices and good luck this week!

Waiver Wire Week 11
Heading into the home stretch for the 2014 fantasy season. It seems like it has gone by so fast. Just the other day we were all cramming our heads with all the information we could to draft our teams as best we could. Now we are just weeks away from the fantasy playoffs. Lets take a look at the guys you might add to your roster this week to bolster your squad for upcoming battle.
RB
CJ Anderson (DEN) got the bulk of the work in week 10 after Ronnie Hillman went down with a foot
injury. The news on Monday morning is that Hillman will miss 2 weeks with a foot sprain. Bring on the cloudy situation in the Denver backfield. Anderson has been in and out of favor with the Broncos this season. With Montee Ball inactive in week 10, still out with the groin injury that has sidelined him the past few weeks, Anderson got 90 yards on 13 carries and caught 4 balls for 73 yards, including a 51 yard touchdown catch. The water is murky on the Denver running back situation with the impending return of Ball, and the hot and cold attitude of the Broncos on Anderson. I would add Anderson and hope some clarity comes during the week. Trying to add him and Montee Ball is the smart play if you want to own the Denver backfield.
![]() |
Damien Williams (MIA) was the recipient of the most carries for the Dolphins on Sunday. Even with Lamar Miller active, he did not see much work after spraining his AC joint in his shoulder. The Dolphins had a tough run match up last week against the Lions, and it doesn't get a lot easier moving forward. Williams had the best average on his runs, going for 4.9 yards per carry. Confounding the situation is the fact that there were reports on Monday that the Dolphins were adding LaMichael James to their active roster. Given the unclear situation and the bad schedule coming up, I would avoid the Dolphins backfield altogether.
![]() |
QB
Drew Stanton (ARI) is a decent addition for very deep leagues and 2 quarterback leagues. With Carson Palmer out for the season, this is now Stanton's job. A daunting task for the Cardinals quarterback awaits, facing the Seahawks twice, the Lions, and the Chiefs the rest of this season. Temper expectations, but if you are playing match ups, he will play Atlanta in week 13 if you need a quick boost to win a playoff spot. Week 15 will also provide a good match up against the Rams, albeit in St. Louis.
![]() |
WR
Odell Beckham Jr. (NYG) should be owned in every fantasy league in the galaxy. Beckham announced his presence with authority this week, beating Richard Sherman deep on more than one play. Beckham is a talented reciever and has a role carved out for him in the Giants offense for the rest of the season with the absence of Victor Cruz. Odell is only owned in 57.5% of ESPN fantasy leagues, snatch him up if he isn't in yours.
![]() |
John Brown (ARI) is one of the best stories of the season. A small receiver who has had some big numbers in games this season. Brown, and now quarterback for the Cardinals, Drew Stanton have had chemistry so far when they have been on the field together. Brown has both caught long bombs for scores, and underneath passes a la Wes Welker. Brown has 5 scores on the season, and if you are picking up Stanton, you may consider adding brown to double up on the scoring.
![]() |

touchdowns in his 4 games for the Steelers. Yes his touchdown rate may be unsustainable, but with Antonio Brown on the opposite side, he is unlikely to get double coverage. Bryant has both the ability to catch short passes, and the long ball, as evidenced by his 80 yard touchdown in week 10. A big receiver who has tons of speed and skill, Bryant may be the guy that wins you a championship. If he is unowned, go get him.
TE
![]() |
Charles Clay (MIA) is a boom or bust guy for a PPR league. In his last 5 games he has 7, 5, 1, 4, 3 catches per week. Clay has scored in two of those games, but is mainly an emergency outlet for Ryan Tannehill. If you are desperate at the tight end spot, and there isn't much out there, Clay might be worth a look.
![]() |
Norv Turner taking over the offensive coordinator spot for the Vikings. The early season injury for Rudolph likely led to many of his owners dropping him. If you have a hole in your tight end spot in your weekly lineup, Rudolph should be returning to the field soon. I would consider him a speculative add at this point in the season, but one that could help a starved fantasy owner in the quagmire that has been tight end this season.
That brings us to the finish on this weeks waiver wire adds. One suggestion I would have this late in the year is to only fill glaring holes or add depth for injured guys if you are not cutting a better player or one with more upside to take a flyer on these players. Your roster should be fairly well set, barring injuries, at this late date in the season. Good luck this week!

Waiver Wire week 10
First, apologies for the late publishing of this article, sometimes family comes first. Sick kids take time. Now on to football. Not a huge amount of guys that have good prospects this week on the wire. But there are some guys that have some good match ups and opportunities with another week of 6 teams on bye. Let's take a look.
RB
Alfred Blue (HOU) may be set up to start if Arian Foster misses any time with a groin injury. The Texans are on bye this week, but if you have a need at running back going forward, Blue is still the top add this week. Houston is a run heavy offense, and if Foster is out in week 11, it's Blue's job.
Charles Sims (TB) is still a guy that should be added in all leagues. Sims was inactive in week 9, but should soon see action. He is a fresh face who can catch passes out of the backfield, so a PPR league is the best spot for him. If nobody has snatched him up in your leagues yet, get him.
Terrance West (CLE) is the flavor of November for the Browns. Dominating the touches the last 2 games, West is back on the top of the pile for Cleveland. The Thursday night game against Cincinnati in week 10 provides a decent match up against a depleted defense without a lot of time to prepare. I can't tell you his stats have been impressive the last few weeks, having 15 carries for 48 yards last week and catching one pass for 2 yards and a score, but he has been getting the bulk of the carries. If you are in a bad spot for byes this week, he may be able to help you.
WR
Taylor Gabriel (CLE) has appeared on the waiver wire article before. This week he caught 5 passes for 87 yards and a score. With heavy byes again this week, Gabriel can likely be a decent fill in for you in week 10.
Mike Evans (TB) had a breakout week for the Buccaneers in week 9. With 7 catches for 124 yards and 2 scores, Evans showed up in a big way. Going forward expect him to get more use as Lovie Smith said the Bucs need to get him more involved in the passing game. If Evans is available in your league, snatch him up for this week and beyond.
Brandon LaFell (NE) is on bye in week 10, but is still a guy to add. Making 6 catches on 13 targets (team high) for 53 yards and a score. LaFell seems to have cemented his role in the Patriots offense. While he won't be helping you this week, but he's a good option for the rest of the season.
Davante Adams (GB) has been coming on in recent weeks. Coming off the bye in week 8 for Green Bay, Adams is a good add for the rest of the season. In week 7 he had 7 catches for 75 yards. Green bay passes enough to support 3 wide receivers, and if you need receiver help, you should definitely add Adams.
TE
Mychal Rivera (OAK) is a good bye week replacement at the tight end position for week 10. Coming off a good match up against the Seahawks in week 9, Rivera had 8 catches for 38 yards and 2 scores. He moves right into a good match up against the Broncos in week 10 who have trouble defending tight ends. Rivera has had two straight weeks of good production having 15 catches for 121 yards in the Raiders last 2 games. Pick him up if you have a bye week tight end need.
Charles Clay (MIA) is a hit and miss guy. Last week Clay had 5 catches for 65 yards and a score. This week the Dolphins face off against the Lions and their 5th ranked pass defense. I can't say that I am excited for the possibilities, but in a bye week bind, Clay is a tight end.
QB
Ryan Tannehill (MIA) had another great game for the Dolphins. Tannehill had 288 yards and 3 touchdowns passing and rushed for 47 yards. He has been playing extremely well over the last few weeks. Tannehill has about a 50/50 schedule of good versus bad match ups for the rest of the season. If you have a bye week guy, or are playing match ups at quarterback, he is a good guy to add to your rotation.
Mark Sanchez (PHI) is back from the dead. Yes, Zombie Mark Sanchez. And he has landed in a great spot. With Nick Foles out for the rest of the fantasy season, Sanchez finds himself in a high powered pass heavy offense. It is highly unlikely that anyone in your league owns him, so if you need a quarterback, snatch him up. Sanchez is similar talent wise to Foles, and should find success in the volume offense of the Eagles.
That brings us to the end of our waiver wire look for the upcoming week 10. Good luck this week!

Waiver Wire Week 9
Week 9 is a week of some big named players on bye. This week we have Atlanta, Buffalo, Chicago, Detroit, Green Bay, and Tennessee on bye. There are 9 wide receivers alone from those teams that will be big losses for your fantasy teams. Here is a short list of players to look at to fill in those gaps in your lineup in week 9.
QB
Ryan Tannehill (MIA) didn't do a lot of passing in week 8, because he didn't really need to. The Dolphins defense handled the heavy lifting, returning 2 interceptions for touchdowns. He did continue his streak of over 40 yards rushing for the 4th consecutive game. Tannehill is unlikely to get you a ton of points against a good pass defense at home this week against the Chargers, but he is playing well, and if he continues to get some rushing, he can be a good bye week fill in this week.
Michael Vick (NYJ) relieved Geno Smith in week 8 against the Bills. Vick didn't do a lot passing in week 8, but did have 69 yards rushing. If Vick is going to start next week, he will have some time to get reps and have a game plan built for him. The rushing alone will make up for a lot, and if your QB is on bye, Vick could help you out for a week.
RB
Lorenzo Taliaferro (BAL) was a lone bright spot for the running back position that is unlikely to be owned in all leagues. Owned in only 12% of ESPN leagues, Taliaferro was the goal line back for the Ravens in week 8. Only rushing for 27 yards, he did score 2 times. He is a gamble, but with running back injuries and byes, Taliaferro is one of few running backs worth a look for week 9. Baltimore plays Pittsburgh next week, the 12th ranked run defense.
Denard Robinson (JAX) got a lot of work, and was effective, for the second week in a row. Running the ball 18 times for 108 yards and catching 1 pass for 10 yards, Robinson played well. Jacksonville faces off against the 29th ranked run defense of the Bengals next week. If he gets the work, the yardage should be there.
Alfred Blue (HOU) is not only the backup for Arian Foster, but also finding himself getting some work at times this year. Getting 14 carries for 42 yards in week 8, and a catch for 22 yards, blue and the Texans have some good running match ups coming up. A week 10 bye is a negative, but facing off against the Eagles in week 9, the Browns in week 11, and the Bengals in week 12 make the next 3 games good ones for the Houston running game. The Texans face only 2 top 10 defenses rest of season, and the average run defense faced for the rest of the year is 20.3. Blue is a good addition to a roster given that the Texans tend to be run heavy and have an injury prone Foster playing in front of Blue.
Charles Sims (TB) is a rookie back for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Sims has been on the IR designated to return so far this season, but began practicing last week. With the lack of production, and apparent desire for the Bucs to trade everyone on their team, Sims is likely to get a shot very soon. He is a must add to any team that is in a bad spot at running back. I wrote about Sims last week in an article about IR designated to return players available with this link.
WR
Martavis Bryant (PIT) was a recipient of the monster day of Ben Roethlisberger in week 8. Making 5 catches on 7 targets for 83 yards and 2 touchdowns, Bryant has scored 3 times in his first 2 games. I thought about writing about him last week, but wanted to see one more week of good production before making a recommendation to pick him up. Now is that time. Pittsburgh plays at the 22nd ranked pass defense of Baltimore next week. Not a lot of scoring allowed through the air by the Ravens so far this season, but if the Steelers can build on their momentum from this week, Bryant could turn into a monster.
Donte Moncrief (IND) showed up huge this week for the Colts. A benefactor of the game flow, being down big quick, Moncrief made 7 catches for 113 yards and a touchdown. In the first week without both Reggie Wayne and Trent Richardson, Moncrief fit seamlessly into the offense. You can read my article on Donte from last week here. Assuming Wayne is out again this week with his elbow injury, Moncrief is a good addition to replace some of the receivers on bye in week 9. The Giants are the opponent for Indy in week 9, and have the 25th ranked pass defense in the league. Look for good production for Moncrief and the Colts in week 9.
Allen Robinson (JAX) is averaging 5.4 receptions per week for 64.7 yards a game, scoring twice for the Jaguars since week 2. Robinson is a good play for any fantasy team in a PPR league. Only owned in 3% of ESPN leagues, he is likely sitting on the waiver wire for the taking. The Jags face the Bengals this week and their 23rd ranked pass defense. If nothing else, Robinson is a good replacement for the week 9 bye guys, and may find a permanent spot on your roster after that.
Brandon LaFell (NE) was a beast in week 8. The favorite target of Tom Brady on Sunday, LaFell caught 11 passes for 124 yards and a touchdown. In PPR formats, it was his 3rd game in his last 5 with at least 23.9 points. Facing off against Denver's 17th ranked pass defense in week 9, LaFell could well find himself having another week of productive work. The schedule for the Patriots gets a bit brutal for the rest of the season, but as we have learned this season, never count out Brady and the Pats offense.
Davante Adams (GB) has been a bit hit and miss so far this season, but has taken over the number 3 receiver spot for the Packers. The schedule gets nice in the coming weeks, after the week 9 bye for Adams. Facing an average pass defense of 21.5 in the rankings, Adams has some very soft match ups, and 3 top 6 pass defenses left on the schedule. He is not necessarily a must add this week as he is on bye, but don't let him sit on the wire for too long.
Thus brings us to the end of the waiver wire article for week 9. There are definitely some possible stars emerging and some good replacements for your bye weeks and injured players. Go pick 'em up, and good luck this week!

Sashay Donte
The Indianapolis Colts have had the most prolific offense so far this NFL season. Andrew Luck is on a torrid pace, and his receivers and running backs are coming with him. This week an injury is likely to sideline Reggie Wayne for a week or two, and it may usher in the youth movement in Indy.
Donte Moncrief is a rookie wide out for the Colts out of Mississippi. He has all the tools to be a great receiver in the NFL with a little work. With Reggie Wayne sidelined, he is likely to get his chance this week. Moncrief stands 6'2 and weighed in at 221 pounds at the combine last spring. His speed and leaping ability will allow him to both stretch the field, and to go up and get balls over the defenders playing him.
At Mississippi, Moncrief was a starter as a true freshman in 2011. That season he started 12 games and led the team in receptions (31), yards (454), and touchdown catches (4). As a Sophomore he played 12 games making 66 catches for 979 yards and 10 touchdowns. In his junior, and final season at Ole Miss, Moncrief had 59 catches for 938 yards and 6 scores.
At the combine he was a co-leader in 40 yard dash times with a 4.4 second time, vertical jump at 39.5 inches, and broad jump at 132 inches. Moncrief possesses a gift of speed and size that are not often found with wide receivers. He is a field stretching talent that can get down field and catch the long bomb, or go up and get a ball up close in the red zone. In college he also showed an awareness of where the yardage marker was to get his team a first down.
So far this season Moncrief has not had a ton of work. His high water mark so far was in week 3 against Jacksonville where he caught 4 of 5 targets for 55 yards. The next two weeks, which coincide with reports of the timeline for Wayne to be out, see the colts play the 13th ranked pass defense of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the 25th ranked New York Giants. The overall average rank of the defenses left on the Colts schedule is 17, middle of the pack. The colts have the easiest schedule this year, and if Moncrief can put up some good numbers with Wayne out, you may not see him coming off the field when Wayne returns.
With the big play making ability of both Andrew Luck, and the skill set of Donte Moncrief, I recommend picking him up this week off of your waiver wire. He would make a good speculative addition for anyone who is needing help at wide receiver and wants to add a guy who is owned in less than 1 percent of ESPN leagues. The opportunity to add a player with his path in front of him, and recently developed opportunity should not be missed. If you are carrying a second quarterback and your main guy has had his bye, you can likely drop the backup and add Moncrief to his spot.
Don't miss the boat on this super talented guy who is about to get his shot in the best offense in the NFL this season. He may tilt the field in your fantasy match ups for the rest of your season.

Waiver Wire Week 8
Looking through the box scores and checking the injury reports, there are some names with opportunities for your fantasy team in week 8. Take a look in your league, and add these guys if you need help at their position.
RB
Bryce Brown (BUF) will be getting a big opportunity to take the lead back role for the Bills in week 8. After Fred Jackson went down with a groin injury, and CJ Spiller broke his collar bone and is out for the season, expect Brown to get the bulk of the carries until Jackson comes back. Brown has been a healthy inactive so far this season, but had mixed results with Philadelphia in the past. Putting up back to back 165+ yard games in 2012, Brown followed that up with two miserable performances. He has talent enough that the Bills traded for him in the off season. A starting running back is a hard thing to come by this time of year, especially one in an offense that will look to run. Brown is the top add of the week.
Jerick McKinnon (MIN) has taken over the feature back role in Minnesota. Rushing 19 times for 103 yards in week 7, McKinnon is a must add player that is only owned in 11.7 percent of ESPN fantasy leagues. He will be getting the rushing down work, and will mix in some pass catching as well. If he is unowned in your league, go grab him.
Tre Mason (STL) got the starters reps for the Rams against the Seahawks in week 7, and he didn't squander his opportunity. Gaining 85 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries, look for Mason to continue to get work for the Rams in the future. A tough schedule lies ahead for the rookie, but given volume, he can still be a productive addition to a running back talent starved roster.
Stepfan Taylor (ARI) is more of a speculative add. He got 12 carries for 40 yards and a score plus caught 2 passes for 19 yards and a score. There is no guarantee that he will continue to get any kind of volume for Arizona, but if something happened to Andre Ellington, Taylor would likely see increased workload. Watch him again in the coming week to see if his increase in touches continues.
Travaris Cadet (NO) caught 6 passes for the second time in 3 weeks for the Saints. With Pierre Thomas suffering an injury in week 7, Cadet could see some work in the coming weeks if Thomas misses any time. Cadet is a better addition in a point per reception (PPR) league. Watch for news on Thomas and grab Cadet if he can help your team.
WR
Odell Beckham Jr. (NYG) had 4 catches for 34 yards and 2 touchdowns plus a rush for 13 yards. On bye in week 8, Beckham will not be a helpful addition to your team this week, but he should be owned in all leagues after the injury to Victor Cruz. Currently owned in only 20.2 percent of ESPN leagues, get him while you can.
Doug Baldwin (SEA) had a monster game in the first game after the Seahawks traded Percy Harvin. The Hawks were behind early on Sunday, and came out firing in the second half. Baldwin had 7 catches for 123 yards and a score in week 7 against the Rams. Baldwin is the best receiver on the Seahwaks roster, and has now been thrust into the number 1 role. Expect him to continue to see a high volume in the future.
Stevie Johnson (SF) has 3 games this season with at least 5 catches, and has scored in 3 of his last 4 games. A bit hit or miss, Johnson will definitely leave you hanging at times, but if the 49ers are behind, he will likely see some solid fantasy production. On bye in week 8, you may be able to wait until next week to get him, but don't miss the boat on a player that could help your team.
TE
Gavin Escobar (DAL) had 3 catches for 65 yards and 2 touchdowns in week 7. This is the first week Escobar has had that kind of production, but his upcoming match ups are good ones for tight ends. Facing off against Washington, Arizona, and Jacksonville the next 3 weeks, Escobar could see his scoring ways continue.
Jermaine Gresham (CIN) has 16 catches in the past 2 weeks. Seeming to be a bit of a safety valve for Andy Dalton, he had 10 catches for 48 yards in a dismal game for the Bengals against the Colts in week 7. In PPR leagues he will have value based on his volume.
Clay Harbor (JAX) has either 6+ catches or a score in 3 of the last 4 weeks. A favorite target of rookie Blake Bortles, Harbor can provide you some help at the dismal tight end position on your team. If your tight end is out or on bye this week, you could definitely do worse than Harbor for your roster.
QB
Ryan Tannehill (MIA) has put together three solid games in a row. Throwing for at least 240 yards and 2 touchdowns in each of his last 3 games, Tannehill is putting up some good numbers. He is bolstering his stats with rushing yardage as well. Averaging 44 rushing yards per game his last 3, Tannehill is a good option for a bye week fill in, or a switch if you are in the market for a new quarterback. A week 8 match up with Jacksonville should provide him with a good opportunity to score.
Robert Griffin III (WAS) is likely to practice this week. It is uncertain what RG3 will come back from his latest injury, but it has become painfully obvious that Kirk Cousins is either not an NFL talent, or just not ready to be a starter yet. I would recommend a speculative stash of Griffin if you are unhappy at the quarterback position. If he can gain the rushing yardage he had as a rookie, he can score big. Games against Minnesota in week 9, and Tampa Bay in week 11 set him up for the chance to score for you.
A Case Of The Dropsies
Today we will take a look at some guys that you can safely drop from your fantasy rosters. After 6 weeks of the season injury or lack of performance make these guys expendable in the ever changing fantasy landscape. As you head into the waiver wire tonight, these are some players to drop when making your moves for week 7.
RB

Chris Johnson (NYJ) has done basically nothing this year. Amassing only 200 yards rushing in 6 games this season and 40 yards receiving on 10 catches, Johnson is merely taking up a roster pot that would be better filled by a player with more potential.
Montee Ball (DEN) has a pretty severe multi-week groin injury. In his first week out of the lineup Ronnie Hillman had a solid performance rushing for 100 yards on 24 carries. If Hillman continues to run well, it may be difficult for Ball to find his way back into the lineup. His value while playing is negligible, and goes down with every solid play from Hillman and Juwan Thompson.
Terrance West (CLE) was a healthy scratch in week 6. The tide has shifted in Cleveland for West. With Ben Tate returning from injury and Isiah Crowell taking on the backup and chnage of pace roles for Cleveland, West is no longer a good use of a roster spot.

Cordarelle Patterson (MIN) is averaging just 2.8 catches per game and 34 yards per game, Patterson has been a major disappointment in his second season. Even when he did put up a good fantasy game, he did it by breaking one long running play in week 1. Patterson is getting targets, but not making the catches. Undoubtedly you can fine a better option at wide receiver to fill out your bench.
Markus Wheaton (PIT) had a fantastic start to his career in week 1 this season, making 6 catches on 7 targets and 97 yards. Since then his numbers have declined severely. In the 5 weeks following, Wheaton has highs of 57 yards and 5 catches, in different games, and has yet to find the end zone. Looking preseason like he may have some good potential, Wheaton is now eminently dropable in all formats.
Shonn Greene (TEN) has a hamstring injury, and a paltry 31.6 yards per game on the ground. The Tennessee running game has been abysmal throughout the season, and Greene may have lost his job to the rookie Bishop Sankey. In a soon to be lost season for the Titans, Greene has minimal value left to his fantasy owners.

Toby Gerhart (JAC) missed the Jaguars the game in week 6. The Jags are now 0-6 and are likely to take a long look at Storm Johnson the rest of the season. Gerhart wasn't putting up stellar numbers in his 5 games this year, averaging just 24.6 yards per game and 16.6 yards per game receiving. A foot injury sustained in week 5 opened the door for Johnson to get the start. I can't say that it is all on Gerhart, watching the tape on the Jaguars week 6 game, they are not good at blocking.
CJ Anderson (DEN) was rumored to be the backup to newly anointed starter, but after being a healthy inactive in week 5 and not receiving a touch in week 6, you can safely assume that Anderson is not going to have a role in the Denver offense barring another injury. Juwan Thompson is the new backup for Hillman for the time being. Getting 8 carries and widely considered to be the better pass blocker, make that trade in personnel if you can.
Maurice Jones-Drew (OAK) has seen his best days. Playing in only 3 games so far this season, Jones-Drew has only 42 yards rushing and 24 yards receiving this season. At this point for a hapless raiders team, you might be better served making a speculative addition of Latavius Murray in case the Raiders decide to take a look at their young running back talent.
Clear off those wasted roster spots, add some depth and emerging talent, and go get 'em this week.

Waiver Wire Week 7
Some big injuries, and some guys that look like they may be breaking out in week 6. Here's the list of who I like on waivers for week 7.
RB
![]() |
Storm Johnson (JAC) was a late week sensation, but didn't quite deliver last week. Look to add him, and for Storm to get another chance. He had 10 carries for 21 yards and scored in week 6. With Toby Gerhart sidelined, storm is the most likely candidate for continued carries from the backfield of the Jaguars. I wouldn't quite start him yet, but I am stashing him in a few leagues.
James White (NE) with an injury to Stevan Ridley, White is one guy who has a chance to step up. Only issue is that the running game for New England is difficult to predict. Keep your eyes on practice reports, and whether the Patriots sign someone new.
![]() |
Chris Polk (PHI) may get a chance, assuming that Darren Sproles is going to miss time. Proceed with caution as Polk has been dealing with some injury problems of his own. Watch for the Eagles to sign someone for this week , but in the absence of another signing, and that Sproles is out, hes a good pick up.
WR
Odell Beckham Jr. (NYG) made his season debut in week 5 with a touchdown. In week 6 the Giants offense was shut down and Beckham had just 2 catches for 28 yards. But going forward expect the workload for Beckham to increase as Victor Cruz sustained a season ending injury.
![]() |
Loius Murphy (TB) makes his second appearance on the waiver wire article. With 7 catches for 72 yards and a score, Murphy has now put 3 solid games in a row together. Seems as if he has a comfort level with Mike Glennon. He is still a bit speculative, but if he can keep it going, he's a good stash for the brutal week 9 byes.
![]() |
Davante Adams (GB) has taken the role of third receiver in Green Bay. Having 6 catches for 77 yards in week 6, Adams put his best game of the year together. There were times in the game that there was an effort to feed him the ball. Adams is still young, and would be highly speculative so far, but the Green Bay offense likes to throw, and with a less than stellar defense, they will be throwing a lot.
Robert Woods (BUF) saw an uptick in production in week 6 with Mike Williams out. Having his biggest production of the season, 7 catches for 78 yards and a score, Woods scored well this week. Two good match ups await the Bills playing Minnesota and at the Jets in the next two weeks. If Williams can't get back on the field, look for Woods to continue to produce.

Scott Chandler (BUF) had a huge game for the Bills in week 6 with 6 catches for 105 yards. This may be a sign of the comfort level with new quarterback Kyle Orton, or a sign of being behind. In a season where tight end is a challenging position, Chandler may be putting up some good numbers int he near future. Keep an eye on him, and if you have space and a tight end bye coming up, you likely could do worse than Chandler.
Jace Amaro (NYJ) makes his third appearance on the waiver wire column. Making 10 catches for 68 yards and a score in week 6, Amaro seems to have found a spot as an outlet for Geno Smith. Being a rookie, it is possible that the trust level, and skill level have grown to the point that Amaro is going to be a favorite target going forward.
D/ST
Cleveland Browns face off against the Jaguars in week 7. A solid streaming choice this week. The Jaguars are allowing 9.5 PPG to opposing D/ST.
Buffalo Bills play against Minnesota week 7. Teddy Bridgewater had a hard game in week 6 getting sacked 8 times and throwing 3 interceptions. If the Bills aren't owned, you could do worse this week.
Good luck on the wire this week!

Waiver Wire Week 6
After a wild week 6 with some key injuries, a few guys have stepped up, and some just had the guy in front of him go down. So as they say in the NFL, next man up.
RB
Ronnie Hillman (DEN) is the likely replacement to Montee Ball after Ball left with a groin injury Sunday. Ball is said to be out a while, and since CJ Anderson was a healthy scratch on Sunday, Hillman is the guy to grab. Denver has a tough schedule ahead, but Hillman will likely get a fair amount of work in a Denver offense that looked like shades of last season.
Andre Williams (NYG) replaced the injured Rashad Jennings in Sundays contest. If the Jennings owner in your league didn't handcuff him with Williams, this is your time to pounce. Williams had a score and caught two touchdowns in relief of Jennings. The Giants said they will know more on Monday, but given their favorable schedule coming up, Williams is a solid add in your leagues.
Branden Oliver (SD) had a monster game on Sunday. Rushing for 114 yards on 19 carries and a score, and catching 4 passes for 68 yards and a score. His great game came against a previously top rated rushing defense of the New York Jets. Oliver is another must add this week, although his time may be limited with Ryan Mathews coming back in the next few weeks. If he keeps up this pace though, it will be hard for the Chargers to take him off the field.
Antone Smith (ATL) didn't do much on the ground this week, gaining 2 yards on his only carry, but he did catch 3 passes for 83 yards and a score. This is 4 touchdowns in 5 weeks for Smith. At this point it is hard to ignore the fact that he has worked himself into the conversation in Atlanta, both having some decent rushing games and some good receiving games as well. As a caution, he has not been getting a lot of touches, but he has been making the most of them. Continued production may lead to more touches for Smith. I would say he is worth a speculative stash or an emergency play if you have nothing else.
WR
Brian Quick (STL) is the number 1 receiver for the Rams. Only owned in 35% of ESPN leagues, Quick is a must add and must start in your leagues. Catching 5 passes for 87 yards and 2 scores in week 5, quick had his best fantasy day of the year.
Louis Murphy (TB) is a name to keep an eye on. Putting together two decent games back to back, 6 catches for 99 yards against Pittsburgh in week 4, and 3 for 35 and a score against New Orleans in week 5. These numbers coincide with a switch at quarterback for the Bucs, and we may be seeing the trust and chemistry between Murphy and Mike Glennon. Speculative watch for now, but be ready to grab him up if his production continues.
Terrance Williams (DAL) scored his fifth touchdown of the season in week 5. His production has been spotty, but averaging a score every week is never a bad thing. He may have been dropped in your leagues, and if you can afford a spot, or need a spot starter for week 6, you likely could do worse. Not getting a lot of touches, averaging just over 3 per week, he is not seeing a lot of passes, so proceed with caution.
Odell Beckham Jr. (NYG) made his Giants debut in week 5. Catching 4 passes for 44 yards and a touchdown, Beckham looked good. He also drew a few penalties on plays he was targeted on. Look for his time on the field to increase if he can stay healthy. The giants offense has been a big turn around since week 1, and Beckham looks to benefit from a fast paced high percentage passing attack. Good play for a PPR league.
Justin Hunter (TEN) had 3 catches for 99 yards and a score against Cleveland in week 5. The Titans have been very inconsistent so far this season, and Hunter has too. Next week they play Jacksonville, and Hunter could be a good spot start if you are weak at receiver, or have key guys on bye.
Taylor Gabriel (CLE) has been building momentum in the past few weeks. This week against the Titans Gabriel caught 4 passes for 95 yards. Some favorable match ups await Gabriel in the coming weeks, like Pittsburgh in week 6, Jacksonville in week 7, and Oakland in week 8. If Gabriels momentum keeps building, and he can manage a score, he may be a good addition to your stable of receivers.
TE

Dwayne Allen (IND) has been a fairly consistent target and a frequent visitor to the end zone for the Colts. Scoring in 4 of 5 games for the Colts so far this season, the black robocop is a great tight end option for your fantasy team. only owned in 11% of ESPN leagues, he is just sitting there waiting for you to add him to your band of merry fantasy players.
